Viking Timber and the environment

Viking Timber takes its responsibility for the environment seriously. Our material, timber, is renewable. It is an asset and a competitive advantage in our work with the environment. Our aim is to influence the whole chain from forest to finished product.

PEFC

Since December 2001, Viking Timber has been certified according to PEFC. We can now sell forestry products classified as PEFC products. This means that we have routines to check .that the approved forest owner runs a sustainable business. We may then sell the equivalent amount of finished product as PEFC timber. If you want to know more, visit www.pefc.se

Our goal is to continue to increase our share of PEFC material. In this way we ensure that forestry management is done in a way that is positive for the environment and that re-growth is promoted.

When trees grow, they trap the greenhouse gas carbon monoxide and create wood, the main constituent of a tree. When wood decays or is burned carbon monoxide is released and is re-absorbed into plant life. The forest is an important part of the cycle of coal.

Training and competence

We want to increase awareness in our employees through training. Through knowledge we can give people another way of thinking. We encourage suggestions and initiatives. Change is always positive if you have been a part of it. We want to convey this awareness to our customers and other interested parties. We want to work towards a sustainable development where our raw materials, production and use promote a favourable environment.
